Social Media Marketing - Be the LinkedIn Expert With Social Media Marketing By Jan Verhoeff
Share The Knowledge
LinkedIn is social media. No matter what the rosters on LinkedIn tell you, if you're not SOCIAL on there, you won't make much difference and nobody will notice you. It's all about building relationships and growing a 'following' of people who are interested in what you have to say.
If you never say anything of value, eventually... they'll stop following you.
But, occasionally, you should say something just for the sheer shock value of reminding them that you're alive, a real person and writing on their wall. One of my favorite things to post on social media is an occasional quote, something I believe, and something that says something about who I am. Like this:
"Education is that which remains when one has forgotten everything he learned in school."
- Albert Einstein
There are so many ways to use LinkedIn that I've found helpful to building my online business, I just want to share them with you here.
Connect with my competition.
Yes, I said, CONNECT. Look, we're all pretty nice people and it's fun to work with people and communicate with people who have something in common. If you're well branded within your niche you'll give up nothing by visiting and being friendly with the competition. YOUR market will find you anyway, and you'll be the only one who can satisfy their needs. Don't hesitate to connect with the competition.
Raise the dead.
Many years ago, a good friend and mentor taught me about using my little black book. She said, "Everyone goes in and they don't escape until they're dead." Well, that was before the internet and there have been some names in my little black book that were all but forgotten prior to linked in. Those precious folks were dead to me because they had disappeared off my radar. Thanks to LinkedIn's special people finder options, I've located many of those dead people and am now communicating with them regularly.
Market research and networking.
You may not see the connection there, but I certainly did. During a process I often refer to as finding my perfect customer, I realized there's a whole secondary access list of people who might be interested in my product that are not closely connected to me. LinkedIn offers me the ability to connect with those lovely people by asking for an introduction. It works just like in-person networking, someone introduces you to someone else and you make the connection and a sale.
Not only can I ask if they like my product, but I can invite them to try my products.
I call that a good deal.
