Ready for Armageddon 2012?
Share The Knowledge
As the widely reported - and derided - Doom's Day prediction for December 21 inches closer, we ask some of the city celebs about their last wish.
Scientists have been crying themselves hoarse that December 21, 2012, will come and go, like any other normal date in the history of civilization. But, those who have made up their minds about the Doom's Day prophecies veering around December 21, aren't paying much heed. Ahead of December 21, which marks the conclusion of the 5,125-year "Long Count" Mayan calendar, panic buying of candles and essentials has been reported in China and Russia, along with an explosion in sales of survival shelters in America. In France, many are said to be preparing to converge on a mountain where they believe aliens will rescue them. As this hullabaloo peaks, we ask some of the movers and shakers of the city to reveal their biggest wish, in case of Armageddon...
Rajendra Mulak
Minister, Finance, Energy, Planning, Water Resources, Parliamentary Affairs and State Excise (Maharashtra)
In case the world comes to an end (which is not going to happen), my only wish would be to be reborn as the same person all over again - in the same family and in similar atmosphere. I want to go on serving people in my next birth too and have the same destiny.
Pravin Darade
NIT Chairman
If this is my last day on this earth, then I would want to be with my son and wife. In fact, whenever I breathe my last, my desire would be to have my family around me! No worldly pursuits matter more than your own people!
Chandrakant Channe
Artist
If the world is coming to an end, my biggest wish would be that all the kids in this world should survive. Since I'm amongst children for the past 40 years, I can assure you that they will manage fine on their own and they will carve a fine path for themselves!
Vijay Verma
Event Planner
I don't believe the world is ending tomorrow, but if Mayan prophecy comes true, then I would want all my near and dear ones to have a peaceful, painless and dignified end. There shouldn't be mutilated organs or suffering caused by radiation.
Dr Priyanka Singhania
Physiotherapist
It bothers me that in spite of the progress that our country has made over the years, we are still tagged as the 'third world'. If the world is to end tomorrow, I would like to do something drastic to transform our country into a developed nation overnight.
Arundhati Pantawane
Badminton Player
I don't think the world is going to end, but if it happens, I would like to return to Nagpur and die there with my loved ones, instead of dying here in Lucknow alone, where I've come for a tournament. I wish I could also represent India at Olympics before the Judgement Day!
