CALANGUTE: Three foreign women, one from Ukraine and two from Kyrgyzstan were rescued from prostitution by the Calangute police on Thursday night.
The racket was being operated over the internet by a foreigner couple. The Calangute police said that they received specific information that three foreign women would be delivered to prospective customers at a discotheque in Khobravaddo, Calangute between 9.45pm and midnight.
They maintained a watch and intercepted a white Maruti taxi which arrived at the spot with the three women, aged between 26-30 years.
The racket was allegedly being operated over the internet by a woman named Aziza@Arina and Ali@Sunny. The modus operandi was for customers to leave their contact numbers on the website and the duo would then contact them over the phone. If the customer did not take the call or missed the call, then they would switch off their phone. They would then contact other customers with new phone numbers.
Cholopon Erzhonovo, 28, a Kyrgyzstan national, the main accused in the case, was arrested on Friday evening from Calangute. The taxi driver was arrested and later released. The three women have been sent to the protective home in Merces pending further investigations.
