Plan Your Summer Weekend Breaks Now!
Share The Knowledge
For many people in the UK taking a short weekend break during the summer months is just what is needed to re-charge their batteries and have some well-earned fun, and with summer just around the corner now is the ideal time to think about what you would like to do on your weekend break away and start planning so that you can make the most of your days.
Here are just a few suggestions:
Sailing
It may seem obvious but Britain is surrounded by water and sailing is a hobby that is no longer just for the elite! There are plenty of yacht clubs throughout the UK that offer weekend sailing trips for complete beginners as well as those with some sailing experience. Blue skies, blue water and the sun beaming down on the deck; what could be more relaxing and exhilarating at the same time?
Gardens and Woodland Walks
The National Trust and other conservation charities have annual summer events for all the family to enjoy. With so many areas of outstanding beauty to choose from, exploring the outdoors and enjoying spectacular scenery is the perfect way to unwind and relax on a weekend break during the warmer months.
Historical Places of Interest
Rich in history and steeped in areas of outstanding beauty the UK is brimming with places of interest just waiting to be explored. Weekend tour companies include visits to everything from stately homes to medieval castles, ancient forts to world heritage sites and much, much more as part of their weekend breaks.
Golfing
Plan your own or contact a golf tour operator to arrange a weekend on the golf course. Find out for yourself why golf is one of the UK's best loved activities. Weekend golf breaks are perfect for small and large groups who fully appreciate the benefits of being outdoors and who love to participate in a challenging but relaxing sport.
Hill Walking
For the more energetic, hill walking is an ideal way to shake off the cobwebs and enjoy connecting with nature. Kit yourself out with a comfortable pair of walking boots and a rucksack and take to hills! Whether you are travelling alone or as part of a group, fill your lungs with some fresh air and invigorate yourself on a weekend walking break.
City Sightseeing
Cram your weekend away full of city sightseeing with one of the thousands of city tour operators that offer both walking and open-top bus tours to keep you entertained. You don't have to travel far in the UK to find a city full of exciting places to visit. Weekend city breaks will also give the opportunity to get some serious retail therapy in if shopping is your thing. Make the most of the summer sales and fill your bag with some early Christmas presents!
