Armed robbers loot Rs 5 crore from bank van in Defence Colony

NEW DELHI: Five armed robbers ran away with cash van of a private bank containing Rs 5.25 crore in Defence Colony area of south Delhi this afternoon after intercepting the vehicle and shooting at the guard.
The incident took place at around 1:45 pm. The guard sustained injuries in the chest in the firing.
The van was carrying cash to an ATM of ICICI bank. Just when the van reached near an ATM, armed robbers stopped the vehicle, shot the guard and took the vehicle away, police said.
The robbers left their white Hyundai Verna at the crime spot.
Police have formed several teams to nab the criminals. Borders have been sealed and heavy police checking is in place in the area.
