The Strongest Muscle of the Human Body
Share The Knowledge
The tongue is the strongest muscle in the body.
The tongue is the primary organ in the body that is responsible for taste. Other than that, the tongue has many other uses for the human body. It is considered one of the busiest muscles in the body because even when we are asleep, the tongue is constantly pushing saliva down our throat to keep things moist. A lot of you may have also heard that the tongue is considered the strongest muscle in the body; however what we don’t know is that this depends on how you look at strength.
There is no doubt that the tongue is a tough muscle and has a lot of work to perform in our bodies. But to claim the fact that it is the most tenacious muscle in the body, by force, would be wrong. Yes, the tongue is indeed the most formidable, but only if its function and size are taken into aspect. The tongue may be the strongest for its small size and the force it is capable to exert.
The tongue consists of more than a single muscle at work. If you doubt the fact that the tongue is not strong enough, you can simply conduct a fun little test on it. Put your pinky finger inside the mouth on its top and then use your tongue to push the finger towards the top. Now use your finger to exert an opposite force and see who wins this little tug of war. The 16 or so muscles in the tongue work together, giving it a lot of strength for the small size it has.
