Bollywood's changing trend; making male attires more colorful

It seems that the fashion statement for the season in the country is being given a new push by the dress designers who are designing the costumes of the lead stars. It is being characterized by bold and vibrant colors being sported by the lead actors. The same was manifest in great detail in HOUSEFUL 2 followed by ROWDY RATHORE. BOL BACHHAN is adding another contour to this splash with the lead actors displaying as colorful attire as Mehndi green colored one being sported by Big B, Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan.
After all, cinema defines the trend of fashion and with such colorful attire being displayed on the screen it indeed should facilitate a changeover of wardrobe for the male types in a big way. International fashion exponents have been advocating for quite a long time that with the choice and abundance of colors that India is endowed with, why should the Indian male continue to be dressed in drab colors like whites, grays, light blues etc. The hue should be more colorful.
Karan Johar as a fashion designer has been instrumental in adding color to the male attire through his cinematic oeuvre and with DOSTANA he initiated the process of experimentation in costumes in a big way, what with bandanis, and ties and dyes in all forms being sported by the lead actors Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham.
Much before this metamorphosis in choice of colors happened in the world of Hindi films in a big way, Dev Anand had made it his style statement by sporting as vibrant colors as could be possible through scores of films that he enacted in. For a fashion student, if he is trying to understand the choice of colors for male attire, films of Dev Anand could be an interesting reference.
GANGS OF WASSEYPUR should also add to the fashion catalogue and accompaniments of the male wardrobe. The humble ghamcha is going to emerge as a muffler for the summers in a big way. After all, when we are using a fiafa, which otherwise is attire from the gulf country as a neck accessory, then why not promote our desi attire which has been a part of the neck accessories for eons in our country. It also is a bridging device between the rural poor and the urban, as for the rural poor as also the rural inhabitants, ghamcha is a necessary part of the attire, and when it would start getting sported by urbanites as well, maybe it would also get a much needed splash of color in its getup. A Big B had shown how cool a ghamcha is with a leather jacket in BUNTY AND BABLI.
When we have such rich colors in our palate the fashion statement for the male also needs to reflect it. Hindi cinema has taken the lead to underline it and one hope that it would get reflected in the attires sported by the males of the Indian species on the streets as well.
